A bit about my research interests
I am broadly interested in nutrition and insects. My interest in insects was established at an early age and heightened after enrolling in an undergraduate entomology course. I became immensely fascinated by the diverse opportunities and research in the field of Entomology. As an undergraduate I studied parasitoids in various Saturniid silk moths. However, I found myself becoming interested in nutrition during the latter years of my undergraduate tenure. As a graduate student I will investigate the nutritional signaling pathways in Drosophila. Our understanding of nutrient signaling pathways has increased in recent years, but much still remains to be learned, especially how the amounts and ratios of key macronutrients (e.g. protein and carbohydrates) regulate the key components of the insulin-TOR pathway.
