I am a Ph.D. student and I wish to orientate my scientific career toward the study of insects, particularly their physiology and behavior. This interest for insects started when I was young and become more specific during my Master degree. I like to study particular aspects of insects but with the goal of answering larger questions concerning how insects interact with their environment and how this interaction shapes behavioral traits. During my Masters, I worked on mimicry in a crab-spider (Misumena vatia) and on the functions of the eyes screening pigments in the kissing bug Rhodnius prolixus. This two project were both indirectly related to alimentation. In the Behmer lab, I will work on how interactions between allelochemicals and nutrients influence feeding behavior and nutrient utilization in herbivorous insects. | ||
